This is my first time doing a community service work and I am always interested in this kind of work but in other field like environment and animal conservation job. This course provided me with experience of doing voluntary job and I realized that this is taking more effort than I expected. From planning to executing, it requires everyone to discuss and the team leaders need to have good organization skills as well. I would like to thanks Ms Noji, as we are all busy over our course assignments and projects and it is very hard for Ms Noji to facilitate effectively. The most memorable event is definitely the executing day, I realized that sometimes we need to take the initiative to help and solve the problem or otherwise the problem will be left unsolved for example, the upper part of the wall couldn't be painted as we were lack of ladder, so we need to borrow it from the exterior team. This problem was hold until the end, as luckily we managed to finish in time. Overall,

15 June: D DAY

Image
After arriving at Taylor's University, we started to load the car with the necessities and books which we had collected for the library. On our way to Serendah, we were caught in a heavy traffic jam due to the accidents on the road and finally we reached there around 11!(and we were supposed to be there at 1000, so we were late obviously ) Without further saying, we just get straight to work. I, of course, to help them to paint the base coat. The job is easy, but without the ladder, the top part can barely be reached so we need to borrow the ladder from the team which is in charged of the exterior. The other teams are team of doors and windows and the exterior painting teams, we all worked at the same time as the clock was ticking fast! When the base coat was almost done, it's lunch time and we were all starving and decided to eat so we can work harder after that. Here came the interesting part and the highlight of the library, the mural painting! Ou

We were told today that everyone need to contribute a least 2 reference book of UPSR level, and after knowing this I directly go to the bookshop near my house which I know they have a good variety of books and reference books. As you can tell from the picture, they do have some books which is suitable for the children in Sekeping Serendah. After browsing and reading, I purchased two books which are below: Also, I found some story books which are interesting and they might ignite the children curiosity to learn. This is an interactive books which introduces simple vocabulary. And the cute story book which is about Easter day. I proceed to purchased these books too, hopefully this will enhance their interest in learning English!

After understanding the flow of the whole project, we proceed to execute the assigned task. As our main job is to refurbish the library, the books and stationary are necessary for the children to study and learn with the correct tools and book. Thus, we decided to use the power of internet to spread the news that we are going to refurbish the library in Sekeping Serendah. We uses platform like Instagram to voice out and hopefully we will get some positive responds. The team who in charged of publicity also set up an facebook page so we can keep everyone updated of our progress and also by using the power of internet to spread this news and do good deeds. Unfortunately,  after I posting in Facebook and Instagram, the respond is not as expected, so I decided to look into my house see if I got something useful when I back in JB (my hometown). And after searching I may call my result ok but not fruitful. Some colour paper for craft work.  Colourful pens fo

Week 4: Group formation and proposal

Image
As we knew the project we are going to carry out, there're lots need to discuss and decide. Group 3 contains of 30 people and it's definitely a huge group and it can be quite challenging to manage. We were further divided into 3 groups which are wall, flooring, window&door team. And I am in the team who will be designing the wall . As the study room is meant for children, thus the design of the wall is crucial as it set the tone and ambience of the library. If we are successful in making the library a pleasant and attractive place to be, it will help in attracting them in coming to the library to study and learn. Below are some options decided by our team leaders and needed to be voted by all of the classmates as the design of interior and exterior need to complement each other as well. Option 1: Catus and animals Option 2: Underwater world Option 3: The star and planets Our task is to co-ordinate with g
